This lovely handmade picture depicts a skeleton couple doing a traditional Central or South American dance. These delightful little pictures are made by a small family workshop in Peru by painting on mirror which is then sealed into a wooden frame. The style shown in these mirror paintings, made popular by José Guadalupe Posada, gives each picture a bold satin-like finish.
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a large and colourful celebration throughout Latin America. Families bring food, drinks, chairs, and picnic blankets to the cemetery. They sit around the grave barbecuing, drinking, chatting and laughing. There is even live music, as people like to play the favourite songs of those who have passed away. The Peruvians believe that there is no better way to feel close to their deceased loved ones than by cheerfully celebrating, talking about good memories, and honouring their lives.
Size: 11cm x 11cm
Hand painted and Fairtrade
Complete with a small hook for hanging
